Portland Aerial Tram

Portland, Oregon
Placemaking, Wayfinding

Two sleek sky bubbles link the expanded Oregon Health & Science University on Marquam Hill with its waterfront campus. Each tram cabin can ferry 78 passengers every five minutes uphill and down. AK entered into the relationship by designing environmental graphics for Kohler Pavilion on the hill, Center for Health & Healing on the waterfront and for the tram itself, including the tram icon. This involved three architects, two buildings, the City of Portland and 3,300 feet of cable.
