Washington Park Reservoir Improvements
The City Beautiful Movement of the late 19th century espoused the creation of magnificent urban spaces not only for function and beauty, but to advance moral and civic virtue. Washington Park’s reservoirs set high above downtown Portland were built on these ideals. Functionally, the improvement plan upgrades materials, resolves earth movement concerns, and addresses new federal regulations. Aesthetically, the park, pool and promenades are more uplifting than ever.
