Belmont Dairy

Portland, Oregon
Placemaking, Wayfinding

When Belmont Dairy, a former dairy and milk processing facility, was converted into condos, retail and parking, its presence anchored the re-emergence of a vital neighborhood on Portland’s east side. The planners wanted to inject an upbeat, lively atmosphere into the neighborhood. They asked us to create a memorable identity for the project, one on which they could build a successful marketing campaign. Twin cows, whom we christened “Belle” and “Monte,” became the mascots of the Belmont Dairy and established an image unlike any other mixed-use project. Signage and graphic identity provide both continuity and a link to the past.
