Placemaking

Each place has its personality, sometimes stunning, occasionally confusing, often complex. To make sense of things, to impose a necessary order, we find the story that wants to be told. It’s a matter of recognizing what matters, then telling it with intention, with clarity, with flair. We ask questions. What’s special? What’s unique? What are the big ideas? Especially we ask, Who needs our help? Who is our audience? What are their needs? The sum total becomes the container holding the disparate parts together. Only then do we drill down to the details.
